Teacher Ambassador
Being an effective communicator is a huge part of teaching and coaching—not just reaching out to students, but to parents, to your colleagues, and to all the stakeholders within your community and school.
I became a teacher because of a couple of great educators I had when I was a student here at Fort Osage High School. I grew up thinking that college wasn't really an option for me. I had great teachers and mentors who helped me make college a priority. They helped me to find ways to make it happen. These teachers also helped me understand that if I was willing to put in the work, I could choose just about any career path that I wanted to pursue. Because of the positive affect that those teachers had on me, I chose to pursue a career in education. My hope is that I have that same or similar affect on at least one student in each of my classes.

Schools in District
The Fort Osage School District is a suburban district located in eastern Jackson County that serves a diverse population of approximately 5,000 students. The district's mission is: Together with parents and the community, we prepare all students to be successful in life. We live our mission by providing a caring environment coupled with high expectations to meet the individual needs of all students. Teachers consistently use technology, problem-based learning, innovative practices, and standards-based grading to assist students in reaching their full potential. Teachers are involved in many professional development opportunities, and the mentoring program supports our new teachers.
The Fort Osage School District's Board of Education works to ensure a strong fund balance so that we can offer competitive salaries and benefits for all of our staff. We offer fully paid health insurance, long-term disability insurance and a $50,000 life insurance policy. There are also many voluntary benefits available.
